And I must say that I am mighty impressed. There were a couple of things like certain web-pages correct rendering on to the browsers, multimedia and text editing applications were a little let-down for a normal user. But the look and feel of the new gen of linux is very very promising and already giving a tough run to the biggies.
And best part is that its all for free! May the creative juices keep flowing in the open-source communities ... Amen !!

Am I enjoying my work on a day to day basis. Certainly not! But doesn't it has to be tough and sometimes un-yielding for something to achieve. That is correct! May be it is the disoriented self which runs away from the challenge. Its a hard shell which has to be knocked off to get into the groove.
It might be a start yet again, I am feeling relaxed and not really charged up for blind race. Lets better our lives!!

Shall I call it a quarter-life crisis or a mid-life, that my age span will decide; but surely it is penetrating its sharp teeth into me like a burning knife goes through the butter. There needs to be a purpose and direction in life. However cliched it may sound, but passion is what is required to keep one on track. It can be anything, not necessarily the overused philanthropic sensed punches but whatever moves you. For instance, wants to become the richest or the most admirable or the most industrious or the owner of the best flashing cars or jets or whatever else materialistic things, if that moves you. There is no need to be shy or hesitant in this hypocrite society to flaunt your ambitions. On any instance, our blind intellects of the arena can virtually digest anything if served sugar-coated.
Nevertheless, hard work is the fulcrum on which everything rests. But for now what I am searching in my life is that passion, that objective, that greed and that love which can guide me to my path of absolve! Spirituality can wait ...

There is nothing wrong in this world about dreaming; because dreams gives us the aspirations, create greed and an utter sense of desperateness to reach the perceived heights in life. These emotions make us real but what makes us Human are the objectivity, planning, analysis, determination and precise execution towards the goal over which we have put our sights! Thats what makes me who I am and shall remain so ever!!

I don't think I will be able to put down my memoirs from the village trip for the House-Warming ceremony. I hope I can do some justice with the pics and upload it on Picasa sometime.
The office is back to "lull" mode now after the crazy working hours for more than a couple of months and boy' ... have I worked then ... it was some sort of record breaking stuff to be true! Ahhh ... I don't want to sound like an incessant cribbing, so lets change the topic for good. There are few nice things which I could start in recent times; getting up early and going for a walk (Yes, Yes ... I am doing that and am very pleased with that, although it gets me nearly dozing off around the lunch time), my inching towards kitchen for cooking and avoiding the food outside (don't miss the "inching" steps) and reading. Yes, I am back to it and 'am really enjoying it. Just finished "Kite Runners" by Khalid Hosseni and now on to the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". And to my great pleasure, movies have also started pouring in ...
Life is looking better now and I only need to figure out what things can I change at the office place ... on second thoughts the evil mind suggests a new office ... he he ... not a bad idea for novelty in life but, perhaps, a little early to take such call. Till then keep engaged!

However, finishing the last few chores in my existing project and searching for a suitable house is running high on the list right now. So let me finish up with all this quickly, while I hope to retain things vividly and articulate it well before the fading happens.
Till then ... any idea about a 1 BHK :(

Chennai Travellouge!
Wow!! That's what I have to say for the road trip which I and Karthik took from Hyderabad to Chennai few days back. Karthik got shifted to Chennai office with a very plum opportunity in his hand to develop a new business entirely from scratch for his company. And, perhaps, he deserves every bit of it; so all the good wishes for him. But thats his story :) My days and nights were passing in the office and lab running helter skelter with the equipments and heavy ransacks on a couple of two wheelers among three of us in the team. A month of inhuman schedule left me longing for some respite and a 750 km drive was more than a welcome break for me. A slogging benchmark and a cheesy mail ensured that I get my weekend off from the bosses. And we started on Apr 10th, a Friday, for the fun.
Customarily, breaking all pledges to start early in the morning, both of us were very generous to be able to leave home by 9:30 in the morning. I stuffed my tummy outside while K got the air pressure done in the tyres. As melodramatic it can get, K was sentimental enough putting the condition to drive out of the city as he was leaving and drive into Chennai as a "welcome home" gesture. So our man started and zoomed through the light morning traffic on a Good Friday. Starting east, we passed through Uppal to finally catch NH9 towards Vijaywada. K's drive was bound till Suryapet which was around 140 km from Hyderabad, and sure did he comply to it at 130 km itself which gave us our first water break (well ... both inlet and outlet of course). Now I was waiting for this to happen and very happily put the Xing in action. This track was not quite like an NH, rather a better developed state highway with very heavy traffic. That was quite the reason we could not better expected 5hrs time to cover a 280km stretch irrespective of touching top speed quite often.
A dried Krishna river and the beautifully surrounded dam with mountains on the outskirts of the Vijaywada city was a good spectacle. The topology of the eastern ghats was quite evident and the city sits on the eastern side of it. While by-passing the city, we stopped at the bus station and ate at Hanuman Dhaba, which was just outside the bus stand. The food was nothing such to be talked about and little shopping of cookies at the terminus and relaxation took lot of our time to start again southwards on NH5 at 3:30pm. We were now to cover 450km on this to reach Chennai. So all throttles on, we just sped! This track was a relief with a divider in between and a better road. Our next stop was going to be Ongole with a tank refill near Guntur. This was the best stretch to get an average speed of 100kmph and extended the top speed to 150kmph. At 5pm we were sipping coffee by highway side at Ongole and hearing the blaring election campaign trail of PRP. K was asleep all this while with his mouth open and literally snoring. That was a funny sight indeed, its just that I couldn't take any pic of his then! We continued again and rushed as quick as possible. It was dark then and we stopped at a Punjabi Dhaba for tea and there were lots of trucks parked there. Truck drivers are good indication of food and rates for a dhaba. The tea eventually became few amazing rotis and fantastic dal-makhani. One of the best foods I had on road.
Started and stopped again, and this time it was for fuel. The tank was full and the card wouldn't work; we shelled out all our cash and were worried about the coming toll gates to pass with just 85/- bucks in hand. That was some AXN moment. Instead of wasting our time to get money from an ATM within some off-highway town, we just kept to the track wishing this much should be enough. Met a very helpful guy at the next toll who assured us that we will reach Chennai with that much of amount. And so at 9pm we entered Chennai clocking an average speed of over 90kmph (which is pretty good) when K took over again. Amusing part was when K was struggling to find way back to his home in his own city. A reasonable thing that he never drove by himself in the city but still it was comical and the man was enjoying it in full glory. Finally he figured it out and we reached to his place in Triplicane.
The next two days were all fun with a very warm hospitality, great south Indian "ghar ka khana" and lots of roaming around in Chennai's tough heat. We went to various temples, eateries like Saravana Bhavan, Residency midnight buffet and amazing Anna Lakshmi for lunch. Some movie shopping at Burma Bazar and a quick T-Nagar trip. Met his best friends Awwal and Nural, it was warm but language was a big barrier. And yes, a couple of movies there ... we infact walked out for good from OngBak2. Finally it was back to Egmore station and a super silent journey back to my now empty room. It was jam-packed but by all means it was a very nice and memorable trip.
And what do I say to conclude ... Adios Karthik !!

I don't know how to look at it! I have pushed my limits really well this time ... and the results were there to see. However, my eternal dissatisfaction over limited knowledge puts a teasing blatant face at me. Well, thats pretty much what I cook for myself, but gained good confidence over these excruciating days for the ability to either provide logical conclusions or, for the better, end results in a totally unknown territory. Yeah! I am feeling good about it and satisfied for some time before the fire in the belly again starts burning me ... ouch! ... seems it has already started. Fine ... back to work again :)
My tired body, sleepy eyes and teribly paining cramped leg still wants to go on and finish things before I take up a likely reward this weekend as a 750km drive from Hyderabad to Chennai. Excited about the drive ... and not so about Karthik leaving for home ... though, good for him but not for me :P ... anyways, that is still few days away ... till then Viru's type innings on card !!!

We had some good sea food on Saturday night and pledged to leave early in the morning for M

We reached Mumbai city around 8:30PM and went straight to Juhu beach. This city sure is live and cosmopolitan. It was already late in night and the city was wide awake, alert and happening. The chutzpah charmed me yet again! Leopold Cafe was our idea for dinner but just couldn't locate it and later learnt it was supposed to be in Colaba. Juhu was dirty but full of life! A "masala Thums-Up" quenched me before we set our feet off for a decent place for dinner. Roaming around here and there for nearly and hour, we parked the car and barged into Pizza-Hut for a quick grab. An amazing pizza and a polite waitress was worth the money and time spent there. We started back at around 11:30PM from there and rushed towards Chembur and Sion before catching up the expressway back to Pune. I jumped on to the wheel after crossing Mumbai and had all my prowess come into play on a superb expressway and deceiving ghat turns. It usually takes 4 hours to reach Pune from Mumbai but it was a mere 2.5hrs which makes me feel good. Out of touch for sure but not rusted ... Ahem! We reached Pune before 2AM and straight off to bed after a long and a very happy day. The out-lander within me was happy and I was at peace with smile in a tired body!

And this made me took notice that just in a blink of an eye two months of the year are already over. Time is flying and there is so much to be done! So much to see, experience and enjoy. Good to realize that the only thing in this world which never stops is the time and it is up to us how interesting we can make it pass by us. In the larger context, perhaps, the same thing applies to our lives as well. Its only once and if we can balance it with success, affection, attachment and belongingness ... it will be a life worth living. Its on us to make a curious and yet an interesting case of our own lives!

Last night I got to watch Delhi-6, one of the most anticipated movie of the season. And it wasn't a letdown. Raising nostalgia in me for the city I have been brought up and leaving me flabbergasted with the capture of quintessential essence of the city in this less than 3 hours movie. And bow down to Rehman ... the best album in recent times. I can't get my ears off at all.
Amazing performances from everyone. I am stunned with the growth of Abhishek Bacchan as an actor ... he is just free spirited yet calm and within the skin of his character. Good to see him coming out of the shadow of legendary but melodramatic BigB and defining a new persona for himself which conveys more of mischief with a twinkle and rather being natural. Sonam Kapoor is adorable ... she is the best thing to happen to Bollywood in recent times. One can feel the ease and effervescence she brings on to the screen, and a great screen presence to top it all. My favourite actress in the new lot.
All the ensemble cast is amazing as well ... Om Puri, Pawan Malhotra (his brother in the movie) from the DD days, Waheeda Rehman, surprisingly Divya Dutta, Vijay Raaj, Deepak Dobriyal, Prem Chopra, Atul Kulkarni and the women in family are apt with their characterization and everyone has done wonderfully well. However, Cyrus Sahukar was ordinary and script did not allow Atul Kulkarni to bring in the effect which he could have ... maybe a price to pay in order to avoid melodrama. And never ever the least, hats off to Rishi Kapoor. Elegance and royalty just oozes out of this gentleman and he is proving to be the best character artist among contemporaries in his second inning. He has less screen time but he delivers. Vijay Raaj similarly deserves a special mention as well.
Now this movie is surely flawed! But I will still give the benefit to the maker because it is a very hard thing to capture. The plot harped alot on the Monkey Man and Delhi's Ramlila throughout, which was becoming a little annoying at times; though former was an important factor in the storyline, but might be little too much to swallow. Ramlila is important in depicting Delhi's culture but its endless repetition took away the scope of bringing more novelty into the screenplay. All 'n all a brave attempt and something which will touch you when you walk out.

Anyway ... so that news item eventually took me to BigB's blog, and there I read his post today which outlined his daily routine. MULTITASKING in a real sense!
I am now stunned! Somebody getting up at 5:00 in the morning, going to temples, hitting gym for a couple of hours, whole lot of appointments, studios, shooting, travel, shows, attending events and finally getting to lay down straight by 1:00 AM only. What more can be amazing than this ... and I am sure the way SRK is, he would be no less. What are these guys ... workaholics!
And now when I look at my routine in a sleazy and apologetic way, I find getting up at 8:00 in burning sunshine morning, struggling with breakfast, stumbling and reaching office between 9:30 and 10:00. Some browsing, some work, a couple of tea sessions, thankfully lighter lunch, an attempt not to doze off before pushing for a tea break again, some more work/browsing and off to gym for 1.5hrs. Come back, eat light, think a lot and eventually sleep. This all is an improved version and still put me to shame, because I believe, even if I don't practice diligently, that you need to push yourself all the time. And this is certainly not the way. Admiring BigB or SRK is easy, but it is very very hard to become like them. Objective, passion and focus are the things which one need to imbibe and build within oneself to reach higher altitudes. And sure should I turn up things and do it ... Just do it!!

As the history of this day goes, it was celebrated in the memory of two Christian warriors knows as Valentine. Later in the middle ages, as the courtly love flourished, the day got attached to expressing love. And well, the cupid started shooting all around since then!
This time Valentine day has unfolded interesting set of events. At the national politics level, there is a right wing outfit called "Sri Ram Sena", which became talk of the town after publicly assaulting girls in a pub in Mangalore. To be fair they have their own conservationist point of view to which many, including myself, do not agree in larger context; but adopting to violence to put your case forth can't be justified by any means. However, it has triggered a debate in more or less all the strata of the society to draw a line in what is appropriate in public and what is not. And I am waiting for tomorrow morning paper to read about their adventures and an outcry. I know its cruel of me but it is fun!
On the other hand, Mr. Cupid has struck many of my known people as well and I just realized that around 8-10 guys/gals I knew are getting married within next 3 months. Its like Wow! I have read stories like "14000 marriages today in Delhi" and 'am feeling the same magnitude even now when so many of my known are getting into matrimony. God bless them all! But interesting stuff ... as human mind can't really sit idle, so perhaps recession has given an opportunity to stop, take a breath and fix your life and engage yourself. And this is what people around are doing ... getting married. Economy has always more than one way of touching your life.
And what I did today? Usual stuff ... half of the day at Office, a movie (Seven Pounds *ing Will Smith) and a leisurely dinner with friends. Bizarre movie and not-so-great food in good company ... and now heavy eyes lurching me into calm darkness. Good Night!

A quote which one of my friend has kept as his status on gtalk. But it conveys so much that I couldn't stop staring at it. I have never longed so much in life as I am now, and realising what it actually means to pray something from all your heart and with utmost purity.
As SRK also said in OSO ... "kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko pure dil se chaho to puri kaynat usey tumse milane ki saazish mein jut jaati hai!" Aur picture to abhi baaki hai mere dost ... hic :)

I always had my doubts in the way we have played our cricket in the past; it would rather not be an exaggeration to say that we were particularly very notorious with ruining our own chances. But times are changing and we can really say the "real" professionalism is coming into our team. MSD is a cool head and a shrewd enough guy to take things forward.
Good show and off to a good long night sleep :)

Kailash Kher, Gulzar and AR Rehman has a knack of coming out with such beautiful creations all the time. Give a little thought to the nuances of divine lyrics, the thumri effect in words and qawwali style in music, and find yourself with your arms raised upwards and humming "maula maula" ....

So this is an attempt of mine to put my mind here, as regular as possible. Open myself to the world and improve myself by looking back at it in retrospect!
